The Elstrup Mill was build in Østerholm in 1859.
In 1888 the mill was moved 2 kilometres to the west to Elstrup. The mill is a Dutch smock mill type with a gallery and it is the last preserved in Denmark constructed entirely in wood.
The outer covering has been changed from the original wooden shingle face to zincsheeds.

Inside the mill is an absolutely attraction, because it has been kept unaffected since 1970 where the last miller closed the mill.
The mill contains the original old grinding stones and flourdressers as well as the more modern rollermills, elevators, lift and much more.

In the old granaries the wellpreserved implements and tools are shown. Also a collection of old capacities e.g. grainbarrels and the smaller quarters are shown.

Furthermore different types of toolcups are displayed. They were used by the miller to meassure the grain which was his payment (duty) for his work.
A big collection of millstones from the several thousand years old granite push stone to the latest carborundum composition stones and the stonedressing kits which the miller used when he sharpened the stones can be seen.

In addition there are 3 different types of modelmills displayed, where several functional details are shown.

The Elstrup Mill is a private property. Since 1913 it has been owned by the Linow family and is maintained privately. The manufacturer Mads Clausen's foundation, Danfoss, has several times spent big amounts of money to the restoratiom works.

Elstrup Mill is under national preservation.


Die Elstrup Mühle wurde im Jahre 1859 in Østerholm erbaut und 1888 2 Km westlich nach Elstrup verlegt. Die Mühle ist vom Gallerieholländer Typ, sie ist die einsigste von diesem Typ, die noch in Dänemark bevahrt ist und sie ist ganz aus Holz erbaut. 
Die Verkleidung ist jedoch von der ursprünglichen Holzschindel verkleidung zu Zinkplatten geändert worden.

Von innen ist die Mühle eine absolutte Sehenswürdigkeit, indem seit Jahre 1970 wo die Mühle vom Müller geschlossen wurde, nichts geändert worden ist.
Die Mühle enthält sowohl die alten Mahlgänge und Sichtermaschinen als auch die neueren Walzenstühle, Elevatoren. Fahrstuhl und vieles mehr.

In den alten Kornspeichern sind die bewahrten Werkzuge und Geräte ausgestellt. Eine sammlung von originalen Raummassen, z.B. Kornfässern und den kleineren Scheffelmassen ist ausgestellt.

Ferner werden verschiedende Typen von Zoll- massen ausgestellt, die der Müller zum Abmessen des Kornes als Zahlung (Mahllohn) benutzte.
Eine grosse Sammlung von Mühlsteinen von den mehreren Tausend Jahren alten Sattelsteinen zu den jüngsten Kunststeinen, sowie die Werkzeuge zum Schärfen der Mühlsteine verwendete.

Darüber hinaus gibts  es 3 grosse Modelmühlen von verschiedenen Typen, wo eine reihe von Funktionsdetails gezeigt werden.
Die Elstrup Mühle befindet sich seit 1913 im Besitz der Familie Linow. Die Erhaltung wird aus privaten Mitteln bestritten. Nur durch finanzielle Unterstützung der Firma Danfoss ist die Mühle noch bewahrt.

Elstrup Mühle ist unter Denkmalschutz.
